The book's cover photo (above) was taken in 1907 at the 
Polly's Bend School in northeast Garrard County, 
along the Kentucky River. 
The teacher is Miss Pauline Arnold (later Mrs. Lane). 

The book includes more than 200 vintage photos from 
Boones Creek, Bryantsville, Buckeye, Camp Dick, Cartersville, 
Copper Creek, Flatwoods, Gilbert's Creek, Lancaster, Paint Lick, 
and other communities in Garrard Co. Most photos show
people going about everyday life in this rural central Kentucky county.
